Star Trades Help Manual

Commodities
Commodities are essential to your success as a company. Because of the Kentaran Galaxy economy, almost all commodities are freely traded between Star Systems, creating great vacuums of supply and demand that can be taken advantage of to turn a profit. Some Star Systems have certain commodities in abundance, while some only have a few at all, and in very limited quantities. It is your job to find out what is in demand where, and to supply it as soon as possible, before someone else acts on the opportunity. The colors on the Depot business screens will tell you which commodities are produced or consumed by that Star System, and thus give you an indication of how prices will fluctuate there.

To view information on which Star Systems trade which commodities and for what prices, click on Depots in the left menu. Here, you can see which Depots sell which commodities and determine which Depots have the best prices for which commodities. Note that while this information is current, by the time you arrive the prices may have been raised or lowered, based on supply and demand. Treat this information as an estimate, rather than the exact price.

Certain commodities are illegal and can be traded only by smuggling them past Law Enforcement. This entails considerable risk but can lead to gigantic profits if successful.

Ambrosia Highly addictive drug; produces an overwhelming feeling of well-being by attacking sensory neurons in the brain.
Antibiotics Critical supplies used to treat sickness and disease.
Antimony Metal used for construction in ultra-light density housing and spacecraft.
Aviatars Creatures naturally adept in the aviation arts; useful for piloting drone spacecraft and making repairs.
Cadmium Slightly hazardous substance used to build low-cost housing.
Cesium One of the most electropositive of all elements, used in ion propulsion systems for spacecraft, because of its low ionization potential. .
Chocolate Tasty substance used in cooking and candy; recent research has shown that Chocolate prolongs one's life an extra 30 years.
Cobalt Can be alloyed with iron, nickel and other metals to make Alnico, an alloy of unusual magnetic strength.
Copper Metal conductor used for low-level purposes in spacecraft and other mechanical devices.
Deuterium Ingredient useful in nuclear reactions; used to power household appliances and other high-energy devices.
Europium A highly reactive metal that ignites in hot air. Used in vid screens to produce a red color.
Explosives A variation of dangerous substances used mainly for demolition, military purpose, or excavation mining.
FusionCells Universal source of fuel for spacecraft and large machines throughout the Kentaran Galaxy.
Gems Rare jewels excavated from various planets' depths. The increasing size of the market balances out the number of gems available, making them extremely desirable by the rich.
Gold Precious metal used for decorative as well as practical purposes in construction and machine engineering.
Grain Food source for the majority of sentiment beings across the galaxy. Can be altered in a staggering number of ways for a variety of dishes.
Inhalents Various substances used for recreational and medicinal purposes. Inhalents are inhaled through the nose for a violent sense of disjointedness from reality.
Iridium Smooth metal used in foils and lightweight transistors.
Laserguns Common hand-held weapons that fire plasma projectiles, frequently used in military warfare and terrorism.
Manganese Metal used for fabrication of the complex "super-steel" mixture; put to use in high-priority structures such as planetary powerplants.
Meat Nutritional substance stripped off of animal life. The details vary across the galaxy, but the basic structure is very similar. Used as food.
Mercury Toxic chemical used in the production of weapons and arms; also employed in various devices used in day-to-day life.
Molybdenum Valuable alloying agent that contributes to the hardening ability and toughness of quenched and tempered steels.
Narcotics A range of drugs used for medical purposes or enjoyment of addicting side effects.
Nervegas Mainly used for medical uses to decrease pain, although some military groups have pioneered its overdose use on enemy troops.
Neuklers Empty shells for spent or defective nuclear weapons. The danger of the left-over radiation is negligible, and these are widely used as a cheap tool for scientific research.
Nitroglycerin Explosive ingredient used in dynamites and pyrotechnics.
Olives Fruit used in recipes and as a stand-alone food.
Pandas Rare species of animal, popular throughout the galaxy. Used as pets or food.
Petroleum Universal fuel for local planet-based transports. Extremely important in the functioning of many planets.
Plasma Pure energy used to power ships and large craft. Is occasionally distilled for use in smaller constructions.
Platinum Metal material used in reinforcing large structures, such as space stations. Also used as conductors in internal machinery; many other similar uses.
Plutonium Radioactive substance, very dangerous to use. Key ingredient in modern bombs and weaponry, used heavily by various militaries.
Prunes Dried plums, available in various forms, including stoned and ready to eat. Considered great energy boosters, laxatives, or hangover cures by various races.
Raisins Grapes dried in the sun or by artificial means. Used as a food. Large amounts of them can be combined to create large "mega-raisins," which are responsible for feeding a large percentage of the galaxy's population.
Seeds Plant parts used either for food or for growing and harvesting the mature mature plant.
Serotonin Chemical produced by the human body to regulate moods. Can be extracted for medical purposes and scientific experiments.
Silk This expensive and lustrous fabric is made from fine but strong natural threads produced by certain insect larvae on only one planet in the universe.
Silver Precious metal valued for its many useful properties and glitzy appearance.
Soap A substance made from ashes, used to clean stains and kill harmful bacteria. Considered a pollutant on watery worlds, and useless on desert planets.
SolarPanels "Alternative" power source widely acclaimed for its eco-friendly attitude. Draws power from the sun into whatever device it is installed in. Actual power derived from the sun is minimal compared to mainstream power sources.
Spices A variety of substances extracted from plants, used to enhance food and exhilarate the taste buds.
